Health Med provides diagnostic ultrasound services at our Jamaica, Queens center. Ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of structures inside the body and does not use ionizing radiation. The examination requested depends on the question your clinician needs to investigate.

Our published services include abdominal, pelvic, renal, thyroid, soft tissue, carotid, vascular, breast, and musculoskeletal ultrasound, as well as first-trimester obstetric ultrasound. Contact the office with the exact examination on your referral so it can confirm availability and the correct appointment.

Different scans require different preparation. Do not assume instructions for one type of ultrasound apply to another, even if you have had an ultrasound before.

Scheduling and preparation

Ultrasound appointments are currently advertised for Fridays and Sundays. Confirm the current schedule and an available time before travelling to the center. Some examinations may require preparation such as fasting or arriving with a full bladder; the office should provide instructions specific to your booked scan.

Bring the referral or order if required, relevant previous imaging reports, identification, and insurance information. Tell the office if you are unsure which examination was requested so it can clarify the booking before the visit.

Insurance and walk-in questions

Our existing service information lists Medicaid and walk-in arrangements for some plans. Coverage depends on your exact plan, the ordered examination, and any authorization requirements. Call to confirm eligibility and whether a walk-in visit is appropriate for your scan rather than assuming all scans are available without an appointment.

If you will pay directly, ask for the expected examination cost and whether any separate interpretation or other charges apply.

Receiving your results

Ask how and when the report will be available and which clinician will discuss it with you. Imaging findings need to be interpreted in the context of your symptoms and medical history.
