About Vaccines for Children (VFC)

Health Med participates in the Vaccines for Children program, known as VFC. The program helps eligible children receive recommended vaccines when cost or coverage could otherwise be a barrier. Contact our Jamaica, Queens office to discuss your child's eligibility and vaccination records.

Who may qualify

VFC serves children younger than 19 who meet program criteria, including children who are Medicaid-eligible, uninsured, American Indian or Alaska Native, or underinsured. Special provider-location rules apply to underinsured children, so confirm where they can receive VFC-funded vaccines.

Eligibility for the vaccine program is different from insurance coverage for other care at the visit. Our office can explain the information it needs to assess eligibility and the services available.

What VFC covers

The vaccine itself is provided without charge to eligible children. Administration or other visit charges may apply under program rules. A VFC provider cannot refuse vaccination to an eligible child because the family cannot pay the vaccine administration fee. Ask the office to explain any separate charges before the appointment.

Review your child's records

Bring the child's immunization history, any school or daycare requirements, and available insurance information. Tell the clinician about allergies, previous reactions, and relevant health conditions. If some records are missing, the team can discuss how to review the child's needs.

Our published pediatric vaccination services include routine immunizations, vaccine counseling, and discussion of catch-up care. The clinician should use current recommendations to determine which vaccines and timing are appropriate. This page is not a personalized vaccination schedule.

Plan the visit

Call (718) 577-2211 to confirm eligibility screening, vaccine availability, and the documents needed for your child. Ask whether a separate pediatric examination or school form appointment is required.

Health Med is located at 19002 Jamaica Ave, Queens, NY 11423. For general questions about childhood vaccines and possible reactions, read our parent preparation guide and discuss your concerns with the child's clinician.
